Winner of the New York Drama Critics Award for Best New Play and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off Broadway Play.   J I T N E Y is set in 1970 in the Hill District of Pittsburgh that is served by a makeshift taxi company, Jitney is a beautiful addition to the author's decade by decade cycle of plays about the black American experience in the twentieth century.   The show will be directed by Ed Smith and will open on October 7, 2010.  Tickets will go on sale soon.

                          African-American Repertory Theater’s goals are:

         To create opportunity for African American artists, while exercising non-traditional    casting to create an all-inclusive tapestry reflective of the members of our community.

         To produce quality cross cultural theater that will enhance the values of the African American community.

         To educate our youth and the community at large to foster a greater awareness of African American history and the arts.   

         To encourage collaborative efforts between organizations from a variety of sectors to leave a lasting impact on our society.

         To use the arts to dispel the stereotypes of the African American community and other cultures.
